Our group, Friends of Boise Historic Pools, began when concerned neighbors first learned that Lowell and South Pools would not reopen in 2021 along with the four other city pools.

Some joined because they missed the lap swim time, some joined because their children lost opportunities for swimming lessons and to participate in swim team, some joined because they knew the history of Boise’s Bintz pools, some joined because they missed evening swimming and gathering with neighbors.

A then 14-year old boy started a petition to save the pools, which has been signed by nearly 2,000 Boiseans!

We continue to gain followers as yet another year goes by with the pools standing silent and still, and we hope the power of community can make them accessible to all users, and re-open them for future generations to enjoy.

PARTNERS IN PRESERVATION

A big thanks to these local businesses who support our efforts to raise public awareness of the historic and community significance of South and Lowell Pools, with the goal that the pools be preserved, made ADA accessible, and reopened!
